#10 Can basset Hounds be left alone during the day?
A Basset's people are his pack and he really doesn't like being without them. Basset Hounds don't make great pets for people who are out of the house all day. When left alone too long, they are prone to separation anxiety and excessive howling.
#11 Are basset Hounds hard to house train?
Basset Hounds make a great family dog. They are excellent with kids and other animals, but when it comes to potty training, they can be pretty darn stubborn. One thing is certain, you will never get anywhere with your pup if you try to use any form of negative reinforcement or punishment training method.
#12 Can I leave a basset hound alone?
Once a dog can handle being alone for 4 hours, they should be able to manage 8 hours on their own. The Basset Hound, French Bulldog, Chihuahua, and Pugs are typically the best breeds for being left alone for long periods of time.
