While the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever has the longest name, it is the smallest of the six recognized retriever breeds. This very playful, happy-to-retrieve, and pretty dog is also called “Toller” for short and has been recognized as a breed in its home country of Canada since 1945, but only since 1981 internationally. Number 312 is the FCI official standard for the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever in Group 8: Retrievers, Scouting Dogs, Water Dogs, Section 1: Retrievers, with the working trial.

This breed was originally bred in eastern Canada, in the province of Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia. However, there are now most Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers in Sweden.

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers do not generally bark a lot unless they have something urgent to tell or are left to their own devices and get bored. They are an energetic dog breed that loves life and living it, and this can include barking, but this is generally not a problem.
