It is also called the “cotton dog”. No wonder. Because that pretty much describes the exterior of the lovable fur ball. The Coton de Tuléar’s fur is white and so fluffy that it looks like a stuffed animal. Of course, the dog is by no means a toy! The lively four-legged friend causes a sensation as a lively companion dog. Especially as a single or active senior you will find an ideal roommate in the bright animal.

#1 The Coton de Tuléar takes its name from the Malagasy port city of Tuléar.

However, French nobles and businessmen during the colonial period made exclusive claims to the handsome little guy: they declared him a "royal breed", kept him as a lap dog, and forbade locals and ordinary citizens to own him. So it happens that the dog is considered French by the stud book. Nevertheless, the Coton de Tuléar was almost unknown in Europe until the 1970s. A breed standard has only existed since 1970.

#2 The Coton de Tuléar is generally a little sunshine with an even-tempered and happy disposition, affable and social.

#3 He enjoys the company of his humans as well as being together with fellow animals and other animals.
