The Bull Terrier is a compact, muscular dog bursting with energy – but contrary to popular belief, it is not dangerous. Even if he gets carried away at times, he remains a lovable, happy, and very devoted dog to his family. Modern selection has been able to moderate its rowdy and aggressive behavior toward its peers. It requires experienced, exercise-loving and present owners to give this bundle of energy everything it needs.
Other names: English Bull Terrier, Standard Bull Terrier, Miniature Bull Terrier.
#1 This English dog breed certainly originated from the now extinct Manchester Terrier and the English White Terrier.
#2 For a long time, pure white was the only coat color accepted by the standard.
Even today it remains the most common variety. This is due to James Hink crossing Dalmatian blood. He is considered the "father" of the breed as we know it today. His work was continued by his children, Fred and James, and his grandson, Carleton, son of James Jr. The latter got his start as a breeder in 1920 with the world-famous breeding name "Brum". It was he who first brought out the "Roman nose" in his champion, Lord Gladiator. She was then passed on to all his descendants.
#3 Due to the typical “egg-shaped” head shape, it cannot be confused with any other dog.
Its profile with the so-called "Roman nose" is unique in the world.
