10 Interesting Facts About Airedale Terriers You Probably Didn't Know

The “king of terriers” comes from the Aire Valley in central England. He probably came about by crossing Otterhounds with fierce terriers in order to achieve a water-loving, predatory hunting dog for otters, water rats, martens, polecats, but also for waterfowl.

#1 Grooming is a must, so plan on spending on a professional groomer, or learn to groom the Airedale yourself.

#2 Training and socialization are essential to teaching the Airedale proper canine manners. If he’s not used to other dogs and people, he can be argumentative.

#3 To get a healthy dog, never buy a dog from an irresponsible breeder, a mass breeder, or from the pet store. Look for a reputable breeder who tests their breeding dogs to make sure they don’t have any genetic diseases that could be passed on to the puppies and that they have solid characters.
