Make Your Own Dog Toothpaste

Are you tired of buying toothpaste for your dog, or are you just eager to try something new? Here is a quick and smart tip on homemade dog toothpaste.

You Need:

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 5 tablespoons coconut oil
  • A little dried mint
  • 1 bouillon cube with a taste of beef or chicken

Directions:

Mix all ingredients, either in a food processor or by hand. It may take a while to get the mixture to a good consistency.

The cinnamon makes the breath fresh, the bouillon cube is yummy for the dog, the baking powder removes plaque and the coconut oil keeps everything together. The mixture stays for about two weeks in the refrigerator.

Remember not to overdo the toothbrushing and do not give your dog too much of the toothpaste on the toothbrush. Baking soda and coconut oil in excessive amounts can cause diarrhea and an imbalance of electrolytes. As usual, is just right! Dentists usually say that the amount of toothpaste corresponding to the size of a pea is sufficient.
