When Cats Like People Who Don’t Like Cats

Sometimes it’s as if it’s bewitched: people who don’t like cats, of all people, particularly like to choose the velvet paws to shower them with expressions of affection. Why is that?

When cat lovers and cat haters visit a household with furry friends, a curious phenomenon can often be observed: cats seem to like the cat hater better than the person who wants to cuddle them. While the cat lover’s advances are rejected by the velvet paw, the cat haters can hardly save themselves from cuddling attacks.

What Do Cats Like in People?

As a rule, cats love to be left alone. They usually find hectic, restless, loud noise quite terrible. Fur noses like to decide for themselves when and with whom they want to cuddle or play. House tigers like it when people are relaxed and balanced, speak to them in a calm voice, and don’t force them to do anything.

Cat haters unwittingly do the right thing: they leave the cat alone. They don’t stare at the kitty—a behavior that furry friends find threatening—sit quietly and try to ignore the snuggle. Cats like such people and then approach them curiously. They occasionally get a bit exuberant and want to show their “victim” how much they love them by cuddling and giving.

Misbehavior

Cat lovers, on the other hand, often behave in ways that cats don’t like. They rush towards the cats, lean forward, look them straight in the eyes and possibly even talk to the fur nose in a high-pitched voice. The sensitive velvet paws don’t like that at all and they react by withdrawing.

So it’s best to take a look at the reluctance of cat haters toward house tigers if you want to gain sympathy points with the peace-loving kitties. Stay calm and let the fur noses come to you. You can also “smile” at them with your eyes by blinking very slowly at them. If the kitty blinks back, you’ve secured a small spot in her feline heart.
