Other cats meow for the toilet as if they proudly have to tell us about the “done”. But why do cats go crazy after big business?
Basically, it is normal behavior for a cat, for which there are very good reasons (see below). However, if the cat meows after the toilet or runs after a bowel movement, this can also indicate health problems.
Going crazy: a sign of joy?
There is a nerve in humans that can trigger a range of emotions when we sit on the toilet. This could also be the case with cats because many velvet paws seem happy and relieved when they go crazy like that. However, it has not been finally clarified whether this is really the case.
Depletion of energy after going to the toilet
Speaking of highs after going to the litter box, going crazy could also be because cats get a little boost of energy from it. The cat wants to break this down by running wildly through the apartment.
However, similar behavior can also be observed in a cat that is under-challenged and could use more exercise and activity. Whether she’s been to the bathroom or not, she’ll be dashing around the house meowing, smashing into anything in her path.

Escape from the attacker
The cat is not only a predator, it can also be its own prey. Martens or birds of prey would hunt cats in the wild. This is still in the bones of the animals today, even if they are purely indoor cats.
So after going to the litter box, what the animals do is not crazy – they flee. Most animals, especially predators, have very sensitive noses and would smell the freshly defecated droppings. That way they would know where to look for the velvet paw that left him there. That’s why the cat has to see that it wins land! So this may also be a reason why the cat runs after defecating.
Caution! discomfort as a cause
Not every cat, but many cats go completely crazy for a few short minutes after going to the litter box. The causes are probably completely harmless and normal, possibly even evolutionarily based. It may just as well be that the velvet paw just can’t stand the smell of its own feces – after all, we humans know that too.
In some cases, however, it may also be that the kitty is not doing well. If she mews loudly, assumes a squat posture, shrinks, or does not calm down after a few minutes, it may be that she is physically lacking in something.
For example, hemorrhoids or intolerance to certain foods is possible. Even if the cat hasn’t just come out of the toilet, it may show pain: It doesn’t want to be petted and is particularly sensitive to its stomach. Their fur may also not be as smooth and shiny as it used to be.
In such a case, it is best to ask your veterinarian for advice. He can see why your cat meows loudly after the toilet or runs around the apartment after a bowel movement. If your cat is missing something, he can help her. And if it’s just normal madness that’s causing your cat to behave wildly after going to the toilet, the clarification was still worthwhile, because then you can breathe a sigh of relief and just enjoy your cat’s weird behavior.
