The German Jagdterrier was bred specifically for hunting. Here it is used for a wide variety of tasks.
The shape of this dog breed appears compact and somewhat squat. One of its advantages is that it is quite resistant to pain.

The Jagdterrier usually reaches a size of up to 40 cm with a weight of 7 to 10 kg.

Nature, Temperament
The Jagdterrier is tough and persistent, independent, courageous, and determined. It is a very temperamental and hardworking little dog, as lovable as he is headstrong. It is not really a family dog but likes to be with just one person.
Upbringing
The German Jagdterrier is somewhat difficult to train. He is certainly not a beginner’s dog. Even more so than other terriers, these dogs are very stubborn because they have to make their own decisions about their hunting tasks. But they are also very docile dogs.
If you can convince your dog that you are the legitimate pack leader and motivate him to work together, you will have an obedient and enthusiastic partner who wants to do everything right.
Ideally, training this breed of the dog begins with puppies or young dogs.
Posture & Outlet
Keeping them in an apartment is possible, but in any case, this breed of dog needs a lot of exercises as well as mental exercise. Because of his temperament alone, it is important that he can work out regularly. This can also be calm in the water because he likes to bathe very much.
This dog will only be really happy with a hunter who can offer him exactly what he was bred for and what he needs.
Suitability
The little terrier is a passionate hunter and therefore also the ideal companion for the hunter. The terrier is less suitable as a companion or simply a house dog.
