10 Tips To Get Rid Of Golden Retriever Smell

#7 Clean your dog’s ears

The ears are another area that can give off a lot of bad smell. Ears may not be an obvious source of a musty smell, but again, it's a possibility.

Just use household paper towels to wipe your dog's ears. Make sure there is no dirt or bacteria in the ears. Use warm water and a cloth to clean the ears.

Make sure your dog is relaxed while doing this. You can injure your dog if you are not careful. And next time you see your vet, have your vet examine the deeper parts of your ears to make sure nothing is infected.

#8 Buy an air freshener

If all else fails or, for example, treating the coat takes a long time, buy an air freshener or an odor eliminator. Especially when visitors come.

Be sure to buy a spray that is specifically designed to combat pet odors. They work best. And of course, never spray that on your dog! Instead, spread it around the room. I have had good experiences with the Febreze air freshener against animal odors.

#9 Let some air in!

Golden Retrievers in particular stink when it's warm, especially when it's humid. Humidity and warmth together are not a good combination. Therefore, ventilate the place where your dog is lying well so that it gets cool air.

This reduces the bad smell and can cool your dog down a bit.
