In the name of the breed has a country of origin: Siberia. There, the ancestors of the Husky for centuries served the nomadic peoples as everyday companions.
However, the endurance and strength of these dogs are especially impressive – which is why they were used in sled races in the early 20th century. At first, the drivers were laughed at because the Huskies looked much slimmer than the mighty Alaskan Malamutes. But since they could maintain a very high pace over long distances, they soon silenced critics, and already in 1910, the breed of dogs began to breed.

Siberian Husky – Sled Dog
Even today, the Siberian Husky is used as a sled dog. Particularly for the Inuit, it has become an indispensable animal on the farm, as well as a member of the family. Due to close contact with their families, dogs have developed a friendly human temperament. As a result, Huskies have established themselves as popular family dogs in other parts of the world.
Activity
Sport dogs from Siberia clearly need a lot of exercise and physical activity. They are ideal for any kind of toboggan racing but require proper training.
If, on the other hand, you want to keep the Siberian Husky as a family dog, you must make sure that the four-legged friend is physically and mentally busy. If these dogs are bored or not stressed enough, they can exhibit non-standard behavior, sometimes even humble, and reject their people.
The following sports are suitable for optimal use of dogs: long-distance cross-country running, agility, or swimming and cycling.
Features of the Breed
Huskies are generally considered to be friendly, affectionate, close to people, and outgoing. In addition, they are smart, eager to work, and, with a good upbringing, are faithful companions of their people. However, four-legged friends expect the same from their people: they do not like to be alone for a long time or to be left without attention. They would like to be everywhere and participate in the life of the pack.
Recommendations
If you have a Siberian Husky, you should take a lot of time with it and be athletic, or at least allow the dog the necessary physical activity.
By virtue of their origin, sled dogs naturally feel at home both on the snow and on the ice, so at minus 20 degrees their owners still have a long way to go.
They are also suitable as family dogs as they are friendly and child-loving, however unbalanced or lonely dogs can quickly exhibit different behaviors (which, by the way, applies to every breed).
Thus, correct parenting is paramount, including, but not limited to, developing adequate mental and physical fitness, allowing the dog to participate in family life, and having enough space in the living space for it to frolic between walks. A house with a garden is therefore recommended.
