Red eyes in our pets are always a symptom of a variety of different eye diseases of varying degrees of severity.

To help your veterinarian assess urgency, ask yourself the following questions:
- Are both eyes affected or just one?
- Is the otherwise almost white dermis also reddened? (it is best to pull up the upper eyelid to assess)
- Are there other symptoms such as eye discharge (watery, slimy, yellowish, greenish), blinking, severe pinching, or itching?
- Does the eye itself show further discoloration (blue or grey)?
- Is vision impaired?
