Staying alone has to be practiced early on, so that it doesn't become stressful for the neighbors - and also for the little guy - when the master or mistress has to do something without him.
#5 Actually, the Coton is the ideal companion for older dog lovers, as long as they are willing to take care of the fine coat that otherwise tends to matt!
He is also satisfied with less exercise, enjoys human attention, and gives it back tenderly.

Sailors brought him to the island of Madagascar. The name refers to its cotton-like fur (Coton = cotton from Tulear). The Coton does not shed.
