The Bull Terrier is the only breed for which there are no height and weight guidelines. He is certainly recognizable by his distinctive snout.

The Bull Terrier has a sad past, having been bred primarily for dog fighting. In contrast to these brutal audience spectacles in the past, however, today there is his good-natured, playful temperament.

#2 Since dog fighting was a popular leisure activity there until 1835, the aim was to breed a fast, courageous and aggressive breed.

The English bulldog, which is also often used for animal fights, was rather slow and the snout was not ideal for biting.

#3 Therefore, the breeders of that time crossed the English Bulldog with the Old White English Terrier (which died out in 1880) and the Dalmatian.

These origins can still be seen today. Correspondingly, Bull Terriers can be divided into Dalmatian, Bulldog, or Terrier types. Of course, a balanced mixture of all three basic types is optimal.
