12 Facts Every Great Pyrenees Owner Should Know

#10 The ears are closed – one might think that’s why a Pyrenean Mountain Dog only ever hears what it wants to hear.

Please always check your Great Pyrenees' ears - earwax is normal, but it can also be dirt or an infection in the ear.

#11 You can see if your Great Pyrenees scratches a lot, shakes its head or if the fur on the ear is a dark red-brown color – take a look at the ear.

#12 As with humans, please do not poke your dog’s ear with a cotton swab.

The outer ear canals are easily cleaned with a soft cloth - some lukewarm water, some apple cider vinegar on the cloth works, but also simply baby oil - it is mild and can be used for this. If the ear smells funny - a look from the vet would be a good idea, as it could also be mites.
