In more and more hotels, holiday apartments, and also on holiday farms, pets are now also allowed. Many of them are listed in hotel guides and catalogs in their own section or specially marked.
Nevertheless: Cat owners cannot avoid an explicit confirmation that house tigers are also welcome. Even better: get a written confirmation from the landlord before booking. Incidentally, cats from those owners who always rent the same holiday home, the same apartment – or even better: have their own holiday home, will be able to cope most easily with the changeover. Here house cats only have to “refresh their memories” to feel comfortable.
Feel-Good Factor
In order to make the animal as comfortable as possible in the unfamiliar environment and to create a familiar atmosphere, you should pack the usual basket, unless the animal also accepts the transport basket as a place to sleep, along with the usual blanket, favorite toy, and a litter box (Here a simple model is sufficient, but if possible the animal should be filled with the bedding known to the animal) and the familiar bowls. The usual feeding and play times should also be maintained.
Out of consideration for the hotel staff or subsequent tenants, it should also be a matter of course that the cat does not sleep in the bed with you and that you remove any dirt from your velvet paw yourself as soon as possible. Do not use the hotel or rental company’s dishes to feed the animal to avoid trouble. Important: Ask the hotel about the usual cleaning times for the room and then be present if possible. Otherwise, hang the “do not disturb” sign on the door to prevent someone from entering the room while you’re away – and the cat possibly running away.
Clearance
Speaking of which: the cat should only enjoy the fresh air at an unfamiliar vacation spot under the supervision and if possible on a leash, which the four-legged friend must have been accustomed to at an early age, preferably from an early age. Exceptions should only be made if the animal is very familiar with the area around your second or holiday home. However, especially in southern countries, contact with wild conspecifics is more than likely. And this increases the risk that diseases may also be transmitted. You should also be sure that your cat does not eat anything off the street. In southern countries, in particular, poisoned baits are laid out for stray animals, especially during the peak travel season.
