Animal Travel Checklist

Here are a few tips on what not to forget when you travel with your velvet paw.

Prior To Travel:

  • Discuss travel plans with the veterinarian and obtain any necessary medication
  • Tick ​​prophylaxis/heartworm prophylaxis
  • Obtain border papers (if necessary)
  • Have an animal approved in the holiday home, campsite, etc
  • Plan animal-friendly stages, possibly provide overnight stays
  • Buy travel accessories, food, bedding
  • Appraise animal pension (if the animal stays at home)
  • Find and invite sitters and educate them about everything (if the pet stays at home)

In The Luggage:

  • Vaccination card/border papers (if necessary)
  • Insurance number/address of liability

  • Address sign (possibly also with holiday address and with the respective travel period)
  • Fresh drinking water in the bottle and water bowl

Travel Pharmacy:

  • medicine
  • Motion sickness medication/sedatives (if necessary)
  • antibiotics
  • Anti-diarrheal medication (e.g. charcoal tablets)
  • Wound spray/ disinfectant (e.g. iodine, Mercurochrome)
  • eye and ear drops
  • Eye wipes for cleaning the eyes
  • flea and tick repellent
  • gauze, dressing material
