The Most Popular Dog Breeds Of 2020

It’s that time again: The most popular dog breeds have been identified. Is your dog’s breed included?

The most popular dog breeds of 2020 have been determined. One breed of dog is absolutely unassailable in front of all others! And – we can reveal that here – it is our favorite breed!

And it’s also almost unbelievably popular with other dog owners: even if you add up the total number of dog breeds in places 2 to 10, you can’t get close to the number that the dog breed achieved in number 1!

The most popular dog breeds: 2nd to 10th place

The Labrador Retriever once again took second place.

Behind the Labrador are the German Shepherd Dog (13,734) and the French Bulldog (13,657). The Chihuahua ranks 5th at (12,001) ahead of the Australian Shepherd (7,751). Places 7 and 8 go to the Golden Retriever (7,097) and the Jack Russel Terrier (6,268). The Havanese (4,051) is the ninth most popular dog in 2020 (4,494), ahead of the Yorkshire Terrier (4,477), which is at the bottom of the top 10 list.

But which dog breed was the most popular in 2020? We particularly like the answer because, as in previous years, the most popular dog breed in 2020 is the mixed breed!

Yorkshire terriers

The fact that the half-breeds are still at the top is a good sign. Mixed breed dogs generally have a lower risk of coming from bad breeds. It is often particularly pretty, funny, and healthy animals that infinitely enrich the lives of their people.

In addition, mixed breeds are not at such a high risk of becoming victims of breed standards that are inappropriate for animals, which are gradually being reinforced through targeted breeding.

If you are planning to buy a dog, please seek professional advice. Not every breed suits every lifestyle. Going by looks alone can backfire very quickly!

Also, consider whether it has to be a pedigree dog at all or whether a mixed breed might not be the best choice for you. Be sure to stop by the animal shelter. There are so many poor souls sitting there waiting for a new home. Maybe the perfect dog for you can be found right there.
