Study: Parents Prefer Pets to Their Children

Pets are their “favorite children”. This is what about a third of parents surveyed said in a survey conducted by a pet food manufacturer. More than three-quarters consider their pet to be a full member of the family.

When it comes to their animals, some people seem to turn off rationality and logic: they celebrate lush birthday parties, buy accessories, or even clothes. And quite a few animals now have an Instagram account that their owners feed with a lot of cat and dog content.

No wonder we love our pets! Some people have an even deeper love for pets than for their own children. At least that’s what the current study suggests. Accordingly, 34 percent of parents named their pet as their favorite child.

Pets as a Family Member, Best friend, and Listener

67 percent said their pet was their best friend. Here we explain why dogs and humans are best friends. 54 percent of respondents believe that their pets understand them better than their partner or best friend (human).
