Nature and Temperament of the Japanese Chin

In Japan, the Chin is described as smart as a monkey, soft-spoken and affectionate as a cat, and loyal as a dog. He is very reminiscent of a cat because, with a height of up to 25 cm at the withers, he is not only the size of a cat but also behaves like one. For example, he wipes his face with his paws or likes to rest in higher places. Some Chins can even climb.

The four-legged friend is an affectionate pet and very cuddly. He builds a strong bond with his master/mistress and therefore prefers to always have his owner around.

In addition, he is very sensitive and empathetic. He adapts to the state of mind of his owner through his empathic abilities. For example, if he notices that you are sad, he immediately tries to cheer you up again. It can therefore also be used as a therapy dog.

Did you know that it is scientifically proven that dogs can help improve your health? A therapy dog should be able to help people psychologically and physically to increase their well-being.

The adaptable Chin is always a happy and bright dog. It is very uncomplicated and therefore does not make high demands. He is also very intelligent and therefore easy to train.

The dog’s hunting instinct is almost non-existent. Therefore, you can take your pet for a walk in the woods or in the fields without worrying about potential wild animals.
