Border Collie
Border Collies, still used today as working and herding dogs, come from the area between England and Scotland and are considered to be the most intelligent dogs in the world. This was clearly evident in 1999 from Border Collie “Rico”, who appeared on the TV show “Wetten, Dass ..?” at the time. His job was to get toys from another room by name. The Border Collie could distinguish around 250 different words and thus impressively demonstrated its intelligence.
The Poodle
Poodles are often underestimated. The curly fur noses originally come from France and definitely have to be mentioned when it comes to intelligent dog breeds. Your learning ability is above average. Therefore, animals of this dog breed are also trained as corpse search dogs, disaster dogs, and guide dogs for the blind.
What makes this dog particularly practical is that it is one of the dog breeds that shed particularly little hair. Therefore, poodles are also suitable as dogs for allergy sufferers.
The German Shepherd Dog
Originally, the shepherd dog was used as a herding dog. There he could make ideal use of his intelligence. Today, this breed of dog (like the Malinois) is often seen alongside the police, military, or customs officials. In addition to being a service dog, he is also a rescue dog.
Dogs of this breed are very smart and willing to learn. Physical activities alone are therefore not enough for them. Because of their intelligence, they always have to be mentally challenged if they are to fall into the basket at the end of the day, happy and exhausted.
Golden Retriever
This British dog breed is very popular with dog owners. The Golden Retriever is patient, friendly, calm, mindful, and smart. They used to take him out hunting. Today he comes because of his intelligence u. a. used as a rescue dog, deaf dog, and guide dog.
Intelligent dog breeds like this dog, who are not only smart but also extremely easy-going by nature, are also well suited for families or dog novices.
The Doberman
Dogs belonging to the Doberman breed are brave, intelligent, alert, and spirited. They are often used by the police and the army, but they are also used as guard dogs.
A Doberman has a lot of energy and a lot of energy. It is important that this dog is challenged physically and mentally every day in a manner appropriate to its breed. Dog experience is an enormous advantage here and prevents great suffering in an emergency. Once a Doberman ends up in an animal shelter, he is often one of the dogs that wait particularly long in the shelter.

Labrador Retrievers
Just like the Goldies, these dogs are among the most popular dog breeds in the world. And like them, Labrador Retrievers are intelligent, good-natured, mindful, and friendly. In addition, Labrador Retrievers have a great need to please their owners. They are used as rescue dogs, guide dogs, and drug detection dogs.
A Labrador also makes an excellent family dog. However, it should not be forgotten that this adaptable and friendly dog also has needs typical of its breed, which the owner must meet.
The Rottweiler
Rottweilers are intelligent, fearless, persistent, viable, and have strong herding characteristics. They are used by the military and police. Their imposing stature means they are also very popular as guard dogs.
A Rottweiler brings a certain mass with them. It is not as powerful as the largest dog breeds in the world. However, its owners should be able to control the impressive weight and the dog as a whole.
Australian Cattle Dog
These dogs are stocky, sturdy, and intelligent. They are considered hard-working guard dogs and need a sure hand. Male dogs in particular like to fight with other male dogs for ranking. The Australian Cattle Dog is therefore not for beginners. If you don’t give him the necessary leadership and, above all, employment, he will soon keep his owners busy. Unfortunately, mostly not in the desired way.
Canaan Dog
Originally from Israel, the Canaan Dog is an intelligent, possessive, and independent dog. He is also one of the particularly rare dog breeds.
He is loyal to his family and protects them at all costs. But he cannot be forced to do anything. This dog is therefore nothing for beginners, even if its fluffy fur and relaxed look would suggest otherwise.
