Yes, a Chihuahua gets along well with children but doesn’t really fit into a family with babies or very young children. These are often still somewhat grossly motorized and see the small dog more as a toy than as a living being. It can quickly happen that you accidentally hurt the Chihuahua or even drop it when you carry it around in your arms. This can have bad consequences. Finally, the Chi is a flyweight and has a delicate build.
However, the Chihuahua gets along great with older children once they have been adequately socialized. This is especially true for your own family members, which the little dog also defends.
The breed is very playful, trainable, and energetic. Best conditions for nice playtime between children and Chihuahua.
