DIY – Sew a Feed Bag Yourself

There’s nothing quite like seeing the expression on your dog’s face as you unwrap the treats. Indescribable. Most of the time, however, you don’t know where to put all the food. Taking treats with you on long walks is particularly annoying. Bags or small jars are often used, but they get in the way when playing with the fur nose. We’ll tell you here how you can sew a lining bag yourself!

Sew a Lining Bag Yourself – Materials for Your Lining Bag

  • webbing
  • carabiner
  • cord stopper
  • cord end
  • 2 fabrics
  • rubber cord
  • seam ripper
  • cloth scissors
  • yarn
  • lighter
  • paperclip

Sewing Instructions

First, a buttonhole is sewn into the outer fabric. You can easily do this with a machine that has a buttonhole function. If you do not have a machine with this function, then it is advisable to sew in a straight line with a zigzag stitch that is one centimetre long. When the needle is in the sink, turn the fabric 90 degrees and continue sewing. You have to do this until you get back to the beginning.

Next, the outer and inner fabric must be placed on top of each other, right sides together. Now the short edge has to be sewn together using the straight stitch. The same procedure must be followed on the other side, but here the webbing must be sewn in between the two fabrics in the middle. It is important that the loop is on the inside. The next step is to sew the long sides together. It must be ensured that the outer fabrics lie on top of each other as well as the inner fabrics. Don’t forget the turning opening! The beginning and end of the seam must not be sewn up this time. The stitch type already set can be used for the edges. Then the beginning and end must be closed and the remaining seam cut off.

The bag can now be turned carefully and then sewn shut. Now the inner fabric can be pushed into the outer fabric and sewn in place. Then two seams for the cord must be sewn in above the lining pocket.

Now wrap the cord around a paper clip and then tie a knot. This must be pushed through the buttonhole until it arrives there again. Finally, the paper clip must be released and the cord stopper attached. The end of the cord must be pulled through a cord side. Both sides must now be connected with a large knot. If necessary, superfluous material must be removed.

Finally, pull the end of the cord over the knot and attach the carabiner to the webbing. Ready!
