Cuddly cat breeds combine the typical independence of cats with endless cuddliness. These breeds are particularly affectionate.
Do cats just do their thing? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that?
Most cats are self-sufficient, want to be independent, and like to be out and about alone. And yet we humans choose cats, which – unlike dogs – usually just do their thing.
But cats don’t give a damn about us. Even if you sometimes get exactly this impression, for example when they throw things down again or sulk. But the truth is different. Because although the character of many cats is geared towards independence, many cats love spending time with us humans. Some cat breeds are particularly cuddly and affectionate so that they almost catch up with dogs with the need for love.
We have collected particularly cuddly cat breeds for you in this guide. From short-haired to fluffy, there is sure to be a suitable cat breed for you. But – before you read on – remember that there are many, many cats with great characters in the shelter. They are often particularly affectionate and grateful. So it doesn’t always have to be a cat from a breed.
Singapura: Small, but mighty
Singapura is said to be the smallest domestic cat breed in the world, but it’s big on sharing love. The muscular, short-haired cat has a gentle, friendly personality. With her active nature, she would like to follow her owner’s every step, that’s how affectionate the little cat with the big eyes is.
Bengal: Communicative mermaids
Asian leopard cats are the ancestors of the Bengal cat. Curious and playful as this cat is, the Bengal cat doesn’t stop at water either. Intelligent cats are very communicative towards people. And when this soft fur of the cat strokes your legs, you can only want to cuddle.
Balinese: philanthropists with temperament
The Balinese cat’s ears want to be scratched! The breed does not like to be left alone. But with a lot of attention and stroking, the house tiger gives back all the more. Balinese are talkative, playful, and cuddly, but keep their own will and thus remain completely cat.
Maine Coon: The dog in cat’s clothing
As the largest cat breed, this grace has a very imposing appearance. With its good-natured character, the Maine Coon, like dogs, actually only wants to be cuddled. It has a lot in common with the barking four-legged friends, e.g. B. the preference for fetching. A Maine Coon is like a “cat dog” that would do anything for tenderness.
The fur here is significantly longer than that of short-haired cats, so you should plan a little more time for grooming.
The Siamese cat: The affectionate extrovert animal
If you talk about cuddly cat breeds, the Siamese cat is not far off. She is a velvet paw who knows what she wants: endless cuddles! Slim and dainty built, she demands a lot of attention and is very affectionate. The extroverted Siamese cats are active and talkative and therefore need a lot of activity and variety.
Important: Siamese cats have a higher risk of feline pica syndrome for reasons that have not yet been clarified.

In addition to the above The British Shorthair or British Longhair, the American Curl, and the Turkish Angora breeds are also characterized by special attachment. And also Persian cats, Sphynx and Manx cats, Oriental Shorthair, Egyptian Mau, Abyssinian, Norwegian Forest cat, Carthusian, Sacred Birman, and the Ragdoll are real cuddly world champions who can hardly imagine anything nicer than cuddling with their human.
