Naturally. The Chihuahua’s joy of movement is actually underestimated by many. Most breed representatives love to walk and run. On top of that, they naturally prefer to be where their people are.
So why not take a Chihuahua on a hike?
If your dog is not used to longer tours, the first hike should not be much longer than a nice walk.
Choose an easy terrain and moderate temperatures at the beginning.
Duration, gradients, route length and weather conditions, etc. should always be taken into account.
If in doubt, bring a pet backpack or dog carrier for the Chihuahua to sit in for the rest of the trip. A coat if the weather is bad.
Think about drinking breaks along the way and small snacks for sufficient energy.
Only hike with a healthy, adult Chihuahua and, if necessary, have its health checked by a veterinarian before the first long trip.
