Sociability of the Saluki

The Saluki gets along well with its peers, especially when it comes to greyhounds. Living with other pets can be problematic because of their strong hunting instincts.

Salukis tolerate cats if they have had contact with them since they were puppies. Smaller pets such as hamsters and guinea pigs are perceived as prey and should not live in the same household.

Is Saluki a family dog?

The Saluki is generally calm, albeit reserved, with children. Since Salukis are sensitive dogs that prefer a quiet living space, they are not very suitable for households with small children.

Living with older people is not a problem in itself. However, seniors as sole owners of Salukis could reach their limits when it comes to offering the dog enough exercise.
