5 Things Dog Owners Should Finally Stop Doing

Many people understand dog love differently than others. We would prefer never to see these things again.

Dogs are man’s best friends. You deserve to be treated that way too. Likewise, their living conditions should correspond to their needs. Dog owners should finally stop doing the following things.

Buy pedigree dogs with health problems

Even a pedigree dog should be able to live a healthy and pain-free life. However, some breed traits constitute health impairments and cause pain. In dogs whose eyes are deep set or extremely protruding, they become inflamed easily. Dogs with short noses often get too little air and often have respiratory diseases. Many white-coated dogs are deaf. Small pedigree dogs have increased shoulder dysplasia and kneecap problems. Large breed dogs are more likely to suffer from elbow and hip dysplasia.

When choosing your dog, make sure he doesn’t have any of these limitations. Avoid a breed whose animals would suffer unnecessarily throughout their lives. If pedigree dogs with health problems or physical limitations are not bought, sooner or later they will no longer be bred and new sad dog fates will be prevented.

Give responsibility to the dog

Dogs are pack animals. There is a clear hierarchy in the pack, in which each animal has its appropriate place based on its character and intelligence. Each position is associated with certain rules, rights, and obligations. It means safety, as each animal knows how to behave in a pack in order to be able to live with little stress.

Dogs try to live with this system of rules with humans. It is therefore normal and important for them to learn clear rules when living with people and to follow them without exception. These rules must be set by humans.

If you rank higher than your dog, he feels safe and can live a stress-free life. If you give your animal a high rank and thus place the responsibility for your coexistence in its paws, you overwhelm it. This is a great stress for your comrade and leads to problematic misconduct.

If you have questions or problems raising your pet, seek professional help, read guides or visit a dog school.

Overfeed the dog

Take care of your dog’s health. No wild animal is overweight or stiff and immobile. Owners control what and how much their dogs eat. Make sure your darling gets healthy food. You can cook for him yourself, give him raw food or choose ready-made food that contains only healthy ingredients.

Find out about the different types of feed and how much your pet really needs per day. Consider his circumstances and age.

Remember that being overweight causes many health problems, which can also be painful and often lead to premature death. A lean animal feels good and is agile.

How much food does it really need to put in the bowl so that your dog doesn’t go hungry, but also doesn’t become overweight?

Not training the dog

Most of them are smaller dogs that look incredibly cute, but dance on their owners’ noses to their heart’s content and treat strangers and acquaintances with complete disrespect. Dog beginners in particular often make the mistake of letting their four-legged friends get away with too much. And the child fell into the well.

Many then consider the dog to have a bad character or even demonize the breed. But that is doubly unfair: On the one hand, a dog that does not have a pack leader who clearly tells it what is allowed and what does not have any chance of knowing how it should behave. On the other hand, a dog is deprived of numerous freedoms (e.g. walking without a leash) due to a lack of training, which makes dog life worth living in the first place.

Dress the dog in costumes

Maybe it looks cute when the pug wears lederhosen at the Oktoberfest or the poodle lady turns up as a witch on Halloween. But a dog is a dog. No doll. Dressing the dog in different costumes depending on the occasion is, therefore, absolute nonsense and – and this is much worse – not dog-friendly at all. Please spare your tail-wagger this procedure.
