Shepherd dogs were brought to Europe for about 4 thousand years, there are still dogs living in the northern Pyrenees that look very much like a bobtail and border collie. The description of these dogs, which has survived to this day, confirms that the ancestors of the bobtail were dogs that lived in the mountains. People used them as herding and hunting dogs. Such pets did not participate in exhibitions, because for many years they treated “yard” dogs with contempt.

#1 The Old English Sheepdog is often referred to as the “Dulux dog”; this is because, since the 1960s, it has been the well-known mascot of Dulux brand paint, appearing in television commercials and advertisements in print.

#2 Different dogs have appeared in the advertisements, but they all look very similar given the fact that most were chosen from a certain pedigree line; actually, many of the Dulux dogs have won “Best in Show” prizes.

#3 The most famous Dulux dog was Fernville Lord Digby, affectionately referred to as Digby; he was given diva treatment and made his owner famous as well.
