The Bull Terrier (FCI Group 3, Section 3, Standard No. 11) is a breed of dog originating from central England, where it was crossed from bulldogs, white terriers, and Dalmatians in the early 19th century. The breeder James Hinks had the breed officially recognized in 1850 and set the breed standard. This consists of a “balanced physique with maximum substance”. This means that the dogs are extremely muscular. There are no size or weight restrictions. Probably the most typical feature is the Roman nose or also called “downface”, i.e. the egg-shaped skull with triangular eyes. When it comes to the urge to move, the scale ranges from sports cannons to couch potatoes and the hunting instinct is usually kept within limits.
