As its name suggests, the Boston Terrier is a child of the USA: In the 19th century, these four-legged friends were increasingly bred for dog fights, especially around Boston. At that time they were even larger and more muscular than their current offspring. In 1878, breeders introduced the breed to the public for the first time. The Boston Terrier is a cross between the English bulldog and the now extinct English terrier. Later, French bulldogs were also added to the family tree.
