Rottweiler vs Pitbull: A Brief Comparison
Rottweilers and Pitbulls are both muscular and powerful breeds, but there are some differences in their physical appearance. Rottweilers typically weigh between 85-130 pounds and stand 22-27 inches tall at the shoulder, while Pitbulls weigh between 30-85 pounds and stand 17-21 inches tall at the shoulder. Both breeds have short coats that require minimal grooming, but Rottweilers have a distinctive black and tan coloring, while Pitbulls come in a variety of colors.
Temperament: How Do They Behave Around Children?
When it comes to temperament, both Rottweilers and Pitbulls are known for their loyalty and affection towards their families. However, Pitbulls have a reputation for being more aggressive than Rottweilers. This is largely due to the fact that Pitbulls were originally bred for dogfighting, while Rottweilers were bred for herding and guarding. It’s important to note that a dog’s behavior is largely determined by their upbringing and training, so a well-trained Pitbull can be just as gentle and loving as a Rottweiler. That being said, if you have young children, a Rottweiler may be a better fit, as they tend to be more patient and gentle with kids.
