The Phases of Estrus Cycle in Female Dogs

Estrus is the second phase, during which the female dog is receptive to mating and may experience vaginal bleeding. Diestrus is the third phase, during which the female dog’s body prepares for pregnancy. Anestrus is the final phase, during which the female dog’s reproductive system rests and recovers.
Bleeding During Estrus Phase: Normal or Abnormal?
Bleeding during the estrus phase is a normal and expected occurrence in female dogs. This is because the lining of the uterus is shedding, which causes blood to flow out of the vagina. The amount of bleeding can vary from dog to dog, and some dogs may experience more or less bleeding than others. However, if the bleeding is excessive or lasts for an unusually long time, it may be a sign of an underlying health issue and should be checked by a veterinarian. Additionally, if a female dog is not bleeding during the estrus phase, it may indicate a hormonal imbalance or other medical issue.
