What is the Sea Dog title?
The Sea Dog title is a highly coveted achievement in Sea of Thieves, a multiplayer pirate game developed by Rare. The title is awarded to players who have proven themselves to be the ultimate seafarers, having completed a series of challenging trials and earned a specific set of commendations. The title is not only a badge of honor but also unlocks exclusive rewards and benefits in the game.
Requirements for the title
To obtain the Sea Dog title, players must meet certain requirements. First, they must be a member of the Sea Dogs, a faction of pirates who specialize in naval combat and exploration. Second, they must complete all four trials: the Trial of the Ancient Isles, the Trial of the Wilds, the Trial of the Sea, and the Trial of the Stars. Finally, they must earn a specific set of commendations by completing various tasks, such as defeating other players in ship-to-ship combat or finding hidden treasures.
Joining the Sea Dogs
To join the Sea Dogs, players must first find the Sea Dogs Tavern, located in the Ancient Isles region of the game’s map. Once there, they can speak to the tavern keeper and purchase a Sea Dog Letter of Recommendation for 50 doubloons. This item will allow them to access the Sea Dogs’ hideout, where they can begin the trials.
Completing Sea Dog Trials
The four trials that players must complete to obtain the Sea Dog title are as follows:
Trial of the Ancient Isles
This trial requires players to explore the Ancient Isles region of the game’s map and complete various challenges, such as finding hidden artifacts and defeating skeletons.
Trial of the Wilds
This trial requires players to journey through the Wilds region of the map and complete challenges related to hunting and cooking.
Trial of the Sea
This trial requires players to engage in ship-to-ship combat and defeat other players or AI-controlled ships.
Trial of the Stars
This trial requires players to complete various tasks related to navigation and astronomy, such as using a telescope to identify constellations.
Obtaining Commendations
To earn the commendations required for the Sea Dog title, players must complete specific tasks related to each trial. For example, to earn the "Kraken Hunter" commendation, players must defeat the Kraken monster in ship-to-ship combat. There are also commendations related to completing voyages and finding hidden treasures.
Purchasing the Sea Dog Hat
Players who have completed the trials and earned the required commendations can purchase the Sea Dog Hat from the Sea Dogs’ hideout for 20 doubloons. This item is required to unlock the Sea Dog title.
Unlocking the Sea Dog Title
Once players have purchased the Sea Dog Hat, they must equip it and speak to the Sea Dogs’ representative in the hideout. The representative will then award them the Sea Dog title, which they can display on their player profile.
