Treating Cats With Bach Flowers: Emergency Drops

Bach flowers for cats have proven themselves in many cases. For example, the emergency drops, the so-called Rescue Remedy, can have a supportive effect on anxiety and can help after accidents, in shock, and in various extreme situations.

Of course, we want to protect our loved ones from suffering. But sometimes it does happen: an accident, a severe shock, or the loss of a fellow animal suddenly throws our four-legged friend’s mental life out of balance. Help is needed now.

In this case, Bach flowers for cats can be used. For example, while waiting for the vet. Having emergency drops at home can be a great help for the animal. But how do these special Bach flower mixtures actually work?

Bach Flowers for Cats: This Is How the Emergency Drops Work

Emergency drops or Rescue Remedies are also available for humans. They are composed of various Bach flower essences that work specifically against restlessness, nervousness, fear, and sadness. The ingredients are purely herbal and are called Cherry Plum, Clematis, Impatiens, Rock Rose, and Star of Bethlehem.

You can get the Rescue Remedy drops in pharmacies, online, at the veterinarian, and also in some pet shops. In principle, you can usually also use the emergency drops for humans, but be sure to discuss the dosage with your veterinarian and treat animal naturopath beforehand. You should also make sure that the drops are alcohol-free and do not contain any other potentially toxic substances for cats.

Dosage & Application of the Emergency Drops

Even if these remedies do not cause any harm – one thing is important: only give your cat the drops in an emergency. If an animal has a serious, perhaps life-threatening accident, the emergency drops can, at best, help to bridge the time until the veterinarian arrives. However, this only works if the cat has not already gotten used to the active ingredients because the Bach flour mixture has been used for every little thing. If your cat is in shock, a drop directly on the tongue every hour should quickly make her feel better. However, this measure does not replace the veterinarian.

Duration of Use

Only give the cat the mixture of five essences in highly stressful situations and never permanently or over a longer period of time. Basically, the duration of the rescue application depends on factors such as the type of emergency situation, the condition of your cat, and the individual cat‘s personality. As far as the duration is concerned, be sure to consult the veterinarian – general information is difficult here. Treatment with Rescue Bach flower drops for too long can sometimes harm your cat. Always bear in mind that Bach flower essences cannot replace the species-appropriate husbandry of an animal, psychologically correct handling and behavioral therapy that may be necessary.
