Sick Animal: Stay Away From Human Medications

Money is tight, the vet is expensive. Careless pet owners often use their own first aid kit when their four-legged friend gets sick. This can be fatal. Many products intended for humans are harmful or even fatal to animals. Pills for pain and inflammation, sedatives, and hormones are among the most dangerous drugs. In the animal, they lead to internal bleeding, neurological deficits or vomiting, and diarrhea. Depending on the dosage, more or less pronounced symptoms develop within a few hours after administration.

Even supposedly natural home remedies are sometimes poorly tolerated by the animal’s body. Just a few drops of tea tree oil can cause permanent poisoning in your cat. In addition to the absolute intolerance of some active ingredients, there are other features. For example, some drugs intended for humans are also used in animals, but they are dosed in a completely different way.

Therefore, we can only strongly advise animal owners to refrain from self-medication. And this advice is by no means given to protect the good of the veterinary profession, but solely to protect our pets from improper treatment and subsequent poisoning.
