Make Dog Food Yourself: Recipes With Potatoes

To keep your four-legged friend healthy and alert, a balanced, dog-friendly diet is important. If you make dog food yourself, you can prepare great recipes with potatoes, for example. They fill you up and can be wonderfully combined.

However, you should never use raw tubers in recipes using potatoes as dog food. Only boiled potatoes are allowed in the dog bowl. Raw potatoes are also incompatible with humans. In addition, you should refine the potato dishes for your four-legged friend with meat and add other types of vegetables or eggs. So you can make balanced, versatile dog food yourself.

Lamb & Potato Stew with Beetroot

The lamb and potato stew are relatively lean, so even overweight dogs can enjoy it. The preparation is quite simple and if you make a little more yourself, you can eat it yourself. For the dog food, however, you mustn’t add any spices or salt.

Cut 500 grams of lamb, three floury, peeled potatoes, and one pre-cooked beetroot into small pieces. Put the potatoes with the meat in a saucepan and add about a liter of water. Then bring it all to a boil and let it simmer on medium heat for 20 minutes. Drain off the excess water and mix the stew with the beetroot pieces.

Make Your Dog Food Recipe for Gourmets

Dogs love liverwurst and together with mashed potatoes it becomes not just a treat for them, but a wholesome meal. This dog food is easy to make yourself, but it is not for chubby four-legged friends.

Peel three to four medium-sized, floury potatoes, cut them into small pieces, and boil them in water for 20 minutes. Mash them together with a teaspoon of butter and 500 milliliters of milk to a puree and mix in 200 grams of fine liver sausage.
