Every pet owner is probably asking themselves that, because who would want to become infected with parasites while cuddling? The answer is …
… it depends!
How often your dog or cat should be dewormed depends on the risk of infection. And that in turn depends on the age, its environment, and its contact with conspecifics and other animals, for example, prey animals in free-ranging cats.
Just do the Deworming Test
Admittedly, this general answer won’t help you at first. But there is a simple test that will take you two minutes and give you a tailored recommendation on how often to deworm your dog or cat.
This test was devised by the ESCCAP experts, an association of veterinarians specializing in parasitology, which develops recommendations for combating parasites in pets.
Investing the time in the deworming test is worthwhile, because: Worm-free it is better to live together!
