Marking, which means something like “to make something recognizable” – and that’s basically what males and females do when they lift their legs (or not) to set a urine mark. Tagging is an important means of communication for our dogs.
What can you do about dog tagging?
If your dog only tags when visiting family or friends, then it should not be allowed to roam free. Leave your dog on a leash near you and assign it a permanent place on a blanket you have brought with you. By doing this, you are signaling to your dog that he has no other tasks to do but to relax.
