Cook for the Dog Yourself: Hearty Rice and Vegetable Stir-Fry

Cooking for dogs yourself is no longer a rarity. But even dog owners who are not allowed to feed their dogs can now and then prepare a special meal for them themselves. Here you will find the recipe for a hearty rice and vegetable pan.

Lean meat, fresh fruit, and vegetables, not too many carbohydrates – healthy eating is all the rage. Many dog owners who pay attention to the quality and origin of the ingredients in their own diet do not want to feed their four-legged family members any random ready-made fast food. Cooking for dogs is becoming increasingly popular. However, if you want to feed your dog with home-cooked food in the long term, you have to deal intensively with the topic of dog nutrition in order to really cover the actual nutrient requirements.

Hearty Rice and Vegetable Pan

The delicious rice and vegetable pan for dogs are quick to prepare and most dogs really like it. The quantities are based on a daily ration for a 15 kg dog. It is best to feed the dish in two portions at your dog’s usual feeding times.

Ingredients:

  • Approx. 40% organic chicken heart;
  • Approx. 35% rice (carbohydrates);
  • Approx. 25% carrots and zucchini (vegetables);
  • 1-2 tbsp linseed oil;
  • Optional: Dietary supplements for vitamins and minerals (observe the manufacturer’s quantities).

Quantities for a daily ration (for a 15 kg dog)

  • 175g raw organic chicken hearts;
  • 150g cooked rice;
  • 110g raw carrot and zucchini;
  • 1-2 tbsp linseed oil;
  • Optional: nutritional supplements.

Directions:

  • Wash and grate the carrots and zucchini.
  • Cook rice according to instructions (without salt).
  • Sauté the chicken hearts in the pan with 1-2 dashes of oil over medium-high heat for about 5
  • minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the grated vegetables, stir and simmer for another 8-10 minutes.
  • Add the cooked rice and stir well.
  • Allow cooling to room temperature before feeding.
  • Mix in linseed oil (and food supplements if necessary) shortly before feeding.
