Chihuahua birth charts from the Internet are of little value. Here breeders have documented the weight of their litter, but such values cannot be transferred to every x-any litter. That’s not how Mother Nature works.
The birth weight of a Chihuahua puppy is more related to the litter size and the weight of the mother animal. The total weight of the entire litter is in a constant ratio to the weight of the mother. If the bitch only gets one or two puppies, the little ones are often heavier. In litters with 4 or 5 puppies, however, the birth weight is lower.
Normally, the weight at birth is about 80-160 grams. There are sometimes lighter puppies, but they usually need special attention in the form of bottle rearing and all-around care. Many don’t make it.
After 10 days the birth weight has doubled. Approx. tripled at 3 weeks.
When they are handed over at around 3 months, Chihuahua puppies weigh between 800 and 1600 grams. If you multiply this weight by 2, you get approximately the final weight of your adult Chihuahua.
