Cat Movies: In These Movies, Cats Are The Stars

Snuggle up on the couch again and watch a nice cat film. These ten films only become real highlights thanks to their velvet-pawed actors.

Aristocats (1970)

Of course animation grandmaster Walt Disney insisted on making a film about cats. Aristocats is still charmingly drawn by hand and humorously tells the story of the lovable and spoiled cat family of Angora cat Duchesse and their children.

The witty house tigers have to assert themselves against the nasty butler Edgar, who wants to dispute the house inherited from the deceased owner. They are supported by the clever street cat Thomas O’Malley. But the red tomcat is soon much more than just a helper in need.

James Bond – You Only Live Twice (1967)

In addition to the usual agent action, a good Bond film naturally also includes a nasty villain. In the case of “You Only Live Twice”, that is Ernst Stravo Blofeld, the sinister head of the secret organization SPECTER, wants to conjure up a third world war with stolen space capsules.

But it’s the iconic scenes with his furry pet that make Blofeld a truly outstanding villain. In the meantime, the image of the bully with the white Persian cat on his lap has become a symbol of an evil adversary. So the little house tiger doesn’t play a heroic role here, but his appearance is no less memorable for that.

Garfield the Movie (2004)

Of course, our favorite four-legged friends can also do comedy, as lasagna-loving lazybones Garfield proves. The cult comic cat finally got her own movie in 2004, in which she has to deal with a new roommate, much to her displeasure: the puppy Odie.

However, when he is kidnapped and is supposed to appear on a TV show, the grumpy cat with the red fur plucks up courage and goes on a rescue mission.

My Bride, Her Father and I (2000)

Visiting the in-laws makes some sweat on their foreheads. This is also the case in the comedy with Ben Stiller, in which the main character Greg first has to confront his suspicious CIA father-in-law before he can propose to his sweetheart. Of course, this doesn’t happen without one or the other mishap.

And where are our velvet paws? The film wouldn’t be half as funny without the fluffy family cat Mr. Jinx, whose rescue mission ends up setting the wedding altar on fire. Oops…

Shrek 2 (2004)

In addition to the green ogre Shrek and his wedded princess Fiona, there is another hero in this animated film. And he’s definitely wearing the pants…uh…boots.

We are talking about the well-known Puss in Boots, who is sent out as a contract killer to free Fiona from the clutches of the nasty ogre. Instead, the racy Spaniard with the charming lisp becomes Shrek’s faithful companion and stands by his side in the fight against the arrogant Prince Charming.

This is how you find an unequal couple that is guaranteed to have an entertaining evening.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1960)

The enchanting film with Audrey Hepburn in the leading role revolves around the almost penniless Holly Golightly, who, with a lot of wit and charm, still makes it possible for herself to live on New York’s expensive Upper East Side – including shopping trips at the expensive jeweler “Tiffany”.

In addition to the pretty Holly, her name also plays.

Cats & Dogs (2001)

It’s nothing new that our little house tigers always like to be in charge. However, the domineering Persian cat Mr. Tinkles overdoes it and aims for nothing less than world domination.

In this case, only canine agents can help to save humanity. That sounds completely absurd, but it’s a lot of fun and is equally suitable for dog and cat lovers.

Harry & Tonto (1974)

The touching comedy tells the story of pensioner Harry. Together with his cat Tonto, he has to leave his block because it is to be demolished. What follows is a journey across America, which turns out to be not so easy in the company of a cat.

On the way to his son, Harry not only gets to know a lot of people but also finds new courage in life.

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

This enchanting Hollywood adaptation with Johnny Depp as the mad hatter also has an important four-legged friend. We’re talking about the Cheshire Cat, who always shows perfect teeth, whom Alice meets on her journey through Wonderland.

However, it is doubtful whether she can really trust the shady companion, even if the furry assistant has one or the other piece of advice on his constantly grinning lips.

How the cat Zorbas taught the little seagull to fly (1998)

The truly heart-rending story about the port cat Zorbas and his furry friends is based on a Chilean children’s book. When Zorbas finds a dying seagull with its feathers caked in oil, he promises to protect her egg, hatch it, and then teach the chick to fly. Not an easy task for the lovable street cat gang, who now do everything they can to protect the little bird from the nasty rats that are terrorizing the city’s wildlife.

We hope you enjoy this or one of the other films!
