Buying a Cat Basket: Tips for Making the Right Choice

If you buy a cozy cat bed, you offer your cuddly four-legged friend his very own place for a relaxing nap. With these tips, you will find the right relaxation oasis for your cat.

The selection of cat baskets is just as large as the individual needs of your cats. From wicker to plastic and plush to corduroy and different types of fabric, everything is possible. If you buy a cat bed, you should pay attention to quality.

Buying a Cat Basket: Wicker Baskets are the Classic

You can get cat baskets made of plush, fabric, or cord as well as plastic. An absolute classic, however, is the wicker basket. The good resilience makes the wicker basket the perfect place to sleep for house tigers. The timeless design looks good in almost every apartment. The braid is extremely sturdy if a little tough.

Therefore, it should be equipped with a comfortable pillow or a soft blanket. However, both must be washable, preferably in the washing machine. Even if cats are very clean animals, it can always happen that the cat basket gets dirty.

Plastic Cat Basket

Cat beds made of plastic are just as robust, albeit less snuggly. The advantage is obvious: If something goes wrong here, the entire sleeping area can be easily cleaned and even disinfected. A washable blanket or pillow provides sufficient coziness. In terms of robustness and stability, plastic is in no way inferior to wicker. Another advantage is the price. Plastic cat baskets are cheaper than models made of other materials, but they usually don’t look quite as nice in the apartment.

Cat Baskets Made of Fabric Such as Plush or Corduroy

On the other hand, cat beds made of plush are right at the top of the cuddling scale. They are so beautifully soft that every velvet paw just feels good here. The disadvantage: Because the whole basket is soft and flexible, your house cat cannot lean against the edge as well. Some kittens are bothered by this. Important tip: If you buy such a cat bed, make sure that you can wash it completely in the washing machine. The same applies to cups made of fabric or corduroy, which usually have a more stable edge. The cover should be removable and washable.
