What causes allergies in humans?
Allergies in humans are caused by the body’s immune system reacting to a foreign substance. In the case of dog allergies, the immune system reacts to proteins found in the dog’s saliva, urine, and dander. Dander is made up of tiny flakes of skin that come off of dogs and can be found in their fur. When these proteins enter the body, the immune system overreacts, causing symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and watery eyes.
