Training and Husbandry of the Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen

A smart hunting dog, the Grand Basset Vendéen requires a lot of work. Therefore, continuous training and attention from the owner are very important. Novice dogs are not particularly suitable for this breed. Seniors are not particularly suitable either, since the GBGV needs a lot of exercises every day.

Active owners who live in the country and have experience with hunting dogs are the ideal owners of this breed. A dog school can support the owner in training and utilizing the GBGV. At home, however, he is very happy and bright. He is a very family-friendly dog.

Note: If the GBGV is not trained well enough, it should not be taken out without a leash to be on the safe side. If he smells something, he can make his way over all mountains.
