#1 They were Roman war dogs

Mastiffs have been around for hundreds of generations and are believed to be the descendants of Roman war dogs.

You actually have three. There are currently two Cane Corso societies in Italy. There is an International Cane Corso Association in the United States.

#3 New to the AKC

Although this breed can trace its origins back to ancient Rome, it wasn't until 2010 that the American Kennel Club recognized them. The first litters of Cane Corsos were brought to France in 1988 by a man named Michael Sottile.
