The Jack Russell is a super energetic and spirited breed that loves to chase other animals, especially the local mice and cats! Small as he is, he is energetic and should not be underestimated in terms of intelligence, need for speed, and constant playing time. This makes it a prime target for crossbreeding in an attempt to find the perfect Jack Russell Terrier mix. This is great if you are an active family, maybe not so good if you are inactive or spend little time at home.
Jack Russell was created in England in the 1800s to join his fox-hunting master, and so he is serious about prey and will chase small animals until the sun goes down. All Jack Russell mixes will inherit a higher prey instinct than most other breed mixes and therefore you must be careful to welcome one in a multi-pet family.
