Your Bulldog’s coat should be smooth, short, finely textured, soft, and shiny. She has soft, sagging skin, especially on her head, neck, and shoulders. Its head is covered in wrinkles and it also has two sagging folds on its neck (from the jaw to the chest) that form what is known as the dewlap.
Bulldogs come in a variety of colors: spotted red; other checks; solid white; solid red; beige, or tawny (pale cream to a light beige), pale yellow, or yellow-red; and piebald (large patches of two or more colors). Solid black is not very common, nor is it valued very much.
Brush your bulldog’s soft, fine, short-haired coat once a week, using a stiff-bristle brush. Wipe his face daily with a damp cloth, pay attention to the inside of the folds. Dry the inside of the pleats completely after washing them.
