A shivering Chihuahua doesn’t always mean the dog is cold.
There are different reasons for shivering:
- stress
- fear
- uncertainty
- cold
- illness (e.g. fever)
- hypoglycemia
- excitement
- joy
Beware of hypoglycemia. Some Chihuahua owners recommend always having a small snack for the Chihuahua on the go. If you cannot identify the cause of the shivering (the dog is not excited, it is not cold, etc.), an illness-related cause is likely. Please do not hesitate to go to the doctor.
