Hormonal Changes: Pregnancy and False Pregnancy
Hormonal changes are a significant factor behind the sagging of a female cat’s belly. Pregnancy is the most apparent cause of belly sagging, and it is a natural process that occurs when the cat is carrying kittens. During pregnancy, the cat’s abdomen stretches to accommodate the growing kittens, and after delivery, the belly may sag due to the skin’s looseness. False pregnancy, a condition in which the cat shows symptoms of pregnancy but is not actually pregnant, can also lead to sagging of the belly. The hormonal changes in this condition can cause the cat’s mammary glands to enlarge, leading to skin stretching and sagging of the belly.
