What is the Best Food for Chihuahuas?

Food that suits one dog may cause gas and diarrhea in another. One four-legged friend pounces on it, the other scorns it.

In order to find the best food for your Chihuahua, you have to consider a few criteria.

how old is your chi?
What preferences does he have (wet or dry food, fresh food, home-cooked food, does he dislike certain types such as fish in his food, etc.)
What budget do you have available?
Is your dog neutered or is it a breeding animal?
Does your four-legged friend have allergies or is sensitive to some ingredients?
Are there diseases that require a special feed?
Do you have a diet preference (e.g. vegetarian)?
Does your Chi need to gain weight or maybe lose weight?

You can provide the Chihuahua with all the essential nutrients if you feed it canned or dry food. As an alternative, there is barfing or partial barfing. With the latter, the Chi is fed with purchased food, but there is a variety of fresh food in the bowl. With BARF, however, attention must be paid to the correct composition of the feed and previous reading on the subject is mandatory.
Pay attention to the ingredients of the food you buy and choose:

If possible, a grain-free product with high meat content.
Fillers without real nutritional value, sugar, coloring, and preservatives should not be included.
An easy-to-understand table of contents with clearly listed ingredients is to be preferred.
